Is a Mechanical Engineer (Dipl.-Ing. at Bochum University) and Ph.D. in Energy Technology (Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm) and has more than 18 years of experience in wind engineering and over 23 years of experience in turbine aeroelasticity. After working for a wind turbine manufacturer, he moved to the certification body DNVGL (formerly Germanischer Lloyd) in the position of Principle Specialist. Main focus is everything that has to do with loads, like aerodynamics, wind turbine concepts and external conditions. Kai is committee member for wind turbine standards as the IEC MT01, the German Wind Turbine Committee and has edited several DNVGL standards, for loads and site conditions, extreme temperature and icing conditions and tropical cyclones.
