Offshore Logistics: Vessels & Foundations, 17th -18th June 2020

Meet the Speaker: Søren Lassen

Søren Lassen is a senior analyst covering the global offshore wind industry at Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables. We interviewed him ahead of the Offshore Logistics: Vessels and Foundations event, when he’ll be speaking on global market developments.

One of the big themes of this year’s Offshore Logistics: Vessels and Foundations event is bigger and more powerful turbines. Why do you think this is such a challenge for the industry?

New turbine technologies reverberate throughout the entire value chain; both raising the bar for production capabilities while also impacting the CAPEX distribution across major supply chain segments.

What do you think are the top three challenges facing the wind power industry, and in particular Offshore Logistics at the moment?

  • Globalization
  • Cost-out
  • Growing component dimensions and weight

You are delivering a presentation on: Developments in the Global Market: What, Where and How Much? Why is this topic important to you and the industry?

Demand sets precedence for supply. Consequently, it is key to understand how the offshore wind industry will grow – both how much it will grow, where it will grow and how it will grow. This presentation will share Wood Mackenzie’s view on exactly these topics

What other session on the agenda are you looking forward to attending and why?

Many of the sessions provide interesting angles to the impact of larger turbines – I look forward to attending these sessions and hopefully see new angles to this topic.

How did you come to be in the wind power industry?

I joined MAKE Consulting where I became an offshore wind analyst more than five years ago.
